Samsung Galaxy S5 - All you want to know

Samsung Galaxy S5 looks

At the end of August, a rumour broke that claimed Samsung is looking to move away from using polycarbonate back covers for its phones.
According to ET News, the company has sent engineers to Vietnam to investigate the feasibility of making smartphones with aluminium and magnesium backs.
The report claimed that some figures at the Korean manufacturer are concerned that the recent introduction of a plastic-backed ‘budget’ iPhone – the iPhone 5c – could make buyers think all plastic-backed smartphones are budget devices.
Perhaps we can find a clue in the recent Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - on that handset Samsung has replaced the traditional polycarbonate with a new faux-leather, stitched rear cover.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is set to be one of the biggest smartphone launches of 2014 – even with little known at this point what Samsung even has planned.

Samsung’s current flagship handset, the Samsung Galaxy S4 went on sale in April 2013. It came packed with a huge number of features and contributed to the opinion that Samsung, rather than Apple, is the main driver of innovation in the smartphone market today.
It also doesn’t hurt that Samsung sold an estimated 20 million Samsung Galaxy S4s within two months of it hitting shelves.
This is an article about the Samsung Galaxy S5. We’ll be rounding up all the latest news and rumours about the handset in the run up to its unveiling next year.

Samsung Galaxy S5 specs

Relatively little is known about the Samsung Galaxy S5’s specs. However, one thing that we do know is that it will come with a 64-bit processor.
Speaking to Korea Times, Samsung’s co-CEO Shin Jong-Kyun has promised the company will match the processor found in Apple’s new iPhone 5s.
And recently Samsung confirmed that it is working on 64-bit processors for its 2014 handsets - although the company stopped short of actually announcing which handsets they were.

Stephen Woo, president of Systems SI at Samsung electronics told CNET that the company is taking a “two-step approach” to developing 64-bit chips.

According to Woo, the firm is planning on developing a 64-bit chip based on designs from ARM. Once it has mastered that technology, it will design its own chip. It is believed it will be the latter chip that ends up in both of Samsung’s 2014 flagships smartphones.

“We are marching on schedule,” Woo said Wednesday. “We will offer the first 64-bit [processor] based on ARM’s own core. After that, we will offer an even more optimised 64-bit [processor] based on our own optimisations.”

Google tipped to pick up WhatsApp for $1 Billion

Google tipped to pick up WhatsApp for $1 Billion

It’s just a billion bucks, why not purchase one of the quickest growing multi-platform message ecosystems in the mobile universe: WhatsApp? That’s what Google has been rumored to be chatting about this week, as an inside source speaking with Digital Trends tells it. This is a story that feeds quite well into the idea that Google is creating their own every-device messaging app system the likes of which would transform their multi-tiered systems into a singular hero.
Both Facebook and Google have been tipped to have approached the folks behind WhatsApp before today, and as they’ve continued to explode in popularity over the past few months, it would appear that they may have reached prime-time for sales. Included in this purchase would be their next-level pricing scheme which has users paying a cool $0.99 a year for a complete tossing of advertisements in-app. If Google were to pick the team up, it could be that WhatsApp itself is kicked in the pants while the technology is folded into Google – no more dollars for you!
Also if this does turn out to be true, Google’s next-generation service might be ready for Google I/O 2013. That is the rumored “Babble” or “Babel.” One way or another, a Google message service that folds all others into itself will be big.
So right here at the dawn of the Facebook Phone and the next wave of Android devices and their messager apps, could it be time for Google to take another swipe? Seems so! Have a peek at the WhatsApp timeline below and get pumped up about the future of the Google-run app universe!

Google Shopping Express in India ???

Google Shopping Express : Deliver product on the same day

Google Shopping Express Service Launched

Google delivers everything from your email to your search results to your to-do list, instantly. So why not your groceries, office supplies or your medication?
That’s exactly Google’s next move, to bring you your physical goods when you want them. In San Francisco, the search giant has began a test-run of its Google Shopping Express service, which provides same-day delivery from a number of stores, including Target, Walgreens, Office Depot, Staples and Blue Bottle Coffee Co.
Using Google’s Shopping Express site, users will be able to browse inventory at those stores, put the products they want in their virtual shopping bag, and then select a delivery time that works for them. A Google Express delivery person will then deliver them right to their doorstep.
The catch? It’s being called an “experiment” right now and it’s only being offered to a limited number of people in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Testers can apply now on Google’s Shopping Express site. Those selected will get a free six-month membership, which includes unlimited same-day delivery. Google says it is working out the long-term pricing plan.
“It’s incredibly early days and so the service is only available to a small number of people in the Bay Area,” Tom Fallows, the product management director for Google Shopping Express, said in a blog post.
Fallows says that the pilot program will expand.
Google joins eBay and Amazon in the same-day delivery service game. EBay’s Now service, which provides same-day delivery for hundreds of stores, is available in San Francisco, New York City and San Jose, Calif.  It costs $5 per order while being tested.
Amazon provides its Local Express Delivery service in 10 cities, including New York, Las Vegas, Seattle, Boston and Washington. It is more expensive at $8.99 and up, depending on the size of the delivery.
